If Not For Me Talk About The New Single And More

I had the pleasure of asking INFM some questions to get a better view into the world of INFM and what they’ll be upto next

What was your idea for this newest song with Left to Suffer, "Say It to My Face" and how did it come about?

A: We spent a little over a week in LA doing sessions with a few different producers just to see what we could come up with, and one of them was Hiram Hernandez. He asked if it was cool if he brought in his buddy Taylor Barber to help us work on the song and I was stoked about that. I didn’t really have any preconceived ideas or topics I wanted to write about, but I didn’t want to just write another relationship kind of song. I wanted something we haven’t done in a while, but something that was still emotional and angry and relatable. The three of us bounced ideas around for a while and eventually Say It To My Face was the one. Hiram is such a good songwriter and it was so awesome and easy working on this one with him, and I feel like a lot of people just kind of know Taylor Barber as a phenomenal deathcore vocalist, but the dude is a melodic genius and he brought so many sick ideas to the table. I remember towards the end of the session we had him get on the mic and just scat some stuff out he thought might be cool for the breakdown section, and I think he half jokingly said “I might as well just be on the song at this point” or something like that, and I was just like “uhhhh- please.” I called the label immediately and the rest is just kind of history. But I’m really proud of this one and it was such a pleasure getting to work with those guys on it.

Do you have any plans for a visit to the UK soon?

A: We’d definitely love to come to the UK! We get a lot of comments and messages asking us to come to Europe and we’d be all about it. I can’t say too much about it yet, but it could be happening pretty soon!

What’s your favorite song to play live right now?

A: That’s tough because I feel like the answer is always changing, but I’m really partial to Blameless and Tragedy. They just feature some of the heavier parts of the set and I love to see how wild we can get the crowd. There’s also a deeper cut we love playing called I Don’t Wanna Be Here that we don’t get to play super often, but when we do it’s just such a vibe.

if you could collab with any other band, who would it be and why?

A: Bring Me The Horizon. They’re just one of those bands that’s constantly reinventing themselves in all the right ways and are just so creative and always ahead of the curve. They’re at a point where they can do anything they want stylistically and it’s going to be a hit. There’s a reason people are still trying to write Sempiternal over a decade later.

what can we expect from INFM in the future?

A: New music and a lot more touring! We just want to get out and travel to as many places and play to as many people as possible. We love doing these bigger support runs because it’s given us such a good opportunity to take our music to a lot of places we’ve never been before. But who knows, there could also be some headlining dates in the cards for 2025 as well!

what is one thing you love about writing music?

A: I just love that something I grew up caring so deeply about (and still do) can touch so many people. I’d argue that most musicians didn’t get into it for fortune or fame or any cliche thing like that. Most got into it because it’s our passion, and in some cases it’s the only thing we’ve ever been good at. So being able to see my passion have such an effect on other people’s lives is the best feeling in the world to me. I just write songs about my pain and things I’ve been through, and then I get to meet all these people on the road that tell me how much our music has impacted them or helped them through the things that they’re dealing with and it just makes everything worth it. It really is the coolest job in the world.

INFM will continue to push the boundaries of the rock world and it will be exciting to see what’s to come. You can check out their newest single "Say It To My Face" featuring Left To Suffer down below and keep in touch with INFM to see where they will be next!
