The New Orleans-based rock band, Under Black Sky, released their latest single, Parasite.
Parasite embraces the signature dark sound of Under Black Sky. It blends aggressive riffs and guttural vocals that send a sense of power through the body. It’s sure to get stuck in your head off the first riff. The mix of heaviness and depth gives Parasite a brutal edge with a haunting message. Here’s what the band had to say about the single:

Hello, I’m Skylar, I’m a contributor over at Evaporated Magazine. I wanted to start by thanking you for taking the time to answer some questions.
Let’s start with an easy one. Where did the name “Under Black Sky” come from?
UBS: The mysterious things in life all seem to happen at night….Under Black Sky
You guys recently released your new single “Parasite.” Can you tell me a little bit about the song? What inspired you to write it?
UBS: Parasite is about that feeling of someone, something that is destroying your life, your mental health, your sanity. The song is about the struggle and desire to free yourself from that pain, to remove that weight from whatever is attacking you. The opening riff was special from the start and we built around it. Krysis just dug deep and really brought the lyrics to life.
I love the face paint that you did for the video. Was there any inspiration behind that?
UBS: We wear facepaint to show what’s going on inside of us. We “hide” behind our fake smiles, our cheesy selfies, and social media facades - this is our reveal. Each member’s makeup is unique and encompasses their own personality.
Krysis: forever laughing
Onyx: seeing things in black n white
Jaxx: life’s a game, will you win?
Beast: anger past the point of no return
Torch: just wants to watch the world burn

You guys have a tour coming up here in a couple of months. What should fans expect from these upcoming shows?
UBS: Well, that’s a great question. We’ve crafted these songs for what seems like an eternity and we can’t wait to get out there and let audiences experience them. In addition to that, our goal is to entertain and use our time to captivate and leave you saying “What the fuck just happened, I have to see it again”
What can fans expect from “Under Black Sky” in the future?
UBS: We are wrapping up our debut album which we hope to finish and release after the first of next year. Once that drops, we hope to have bigger and better opportunities to support it and bring this traveling freakshow to more and more corners of the world.
I have one fun question to wrap things up. Which Hogwarts house would each member be sorted into?
UBS: Easy, every member would be in Slytherin. The sorting hat would probably swear just by looking “inside” our heads, then sing one of our songs!
