Beartooth Release Deluxe Edition of “The Surface”
The Surface, originally released in 2023, marked the band’s fifth album. The Surface earned Beartooth their first set of #1 singles on US Active Rock Radio after the album's release.
The deluxe edition features six new mixes, live tracks, and a new song ATTN. You find the song on most streaming services, as well as catch the video here.
The video shows Shomo screaming the lyrics as he dances around an occupied subway car. The occupants aren’t paying much mind to him. We see him sing in their faces as they just stare off or continue reading. The song feels like a new era of Beartooth. With lyrics like “Been growing up, I moved on, I’m putting new chords in my songs. A new way I speak, a new lyric sheet for you to sing…”
ATTN, much like other of the band's recent releases, is about the mentality of self-preservation and self-love. Here’s what lead singer, Caleb Shomo, had to say about the song:
“It's about the ultimate conclusion that I’ve come to after this whole album cycle and living with these songs for as long as I have now… I think self-love has led to a deeper understanding of my value as a person, to myself and to others.”
In addition to the album's release, the vinyl is available on the merch site. The vinyl is available in four different colors, my favorite being the Ice Blue, and will run you $40.
