P.O.D. Is Ready For Award Season with Veritas Album
Legendary Christian nu metal band P.O.D. is working towards a few nominations, and hopefully some awards during the upcoming award season. Their most recent album, Veritas, was released earlier this year and was accompanied by the “I Got That” tour, which featured support from Bad Wolves, Norma Jean, and Blind Channel.
Since its release, Veritas has amassed a large amount of acclaim, specifically from those who have been following the band since their heyday back in the early 2000s. Veritas, meaning “truth” in Latin, is the band’s first release in 5 years and is their 11th studio album since the band’s inception back in 1992. The album pays homage to their earlier work by fully executing their rock-n-roll meets reggae roots style that they perfected early in their career.
The album also includes singles with some heavy-hitter features. Drop, released in September of 2023, features Lamb of God’s frontman Randy Blythe. P.O.D.'s Marcos Curiel (guitarist) stated that the track was inspired by his longtime love of electronic music. He said, “When that drop hits, everyone knows it. We needed to create a song in that way… P.O.D. style.”
Afraid To Die was released shortly after and features Jinger vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk. The song focuses on the human experiences of love, fear, integrity, family, and friends. It includes the classic P.O.D. sound with a seamless combination of rap and guitar riffs, as well as vocal passages from Shmayluk.
P.O.D. has been nominated for and won many significant awards during their career, and they are looking to do it again with Veritas. They are hoping to be considered for Best Rock Album for Veritas, as well as Best Metal Performance for Drop featuring Randy Blythe and Best Rock Performance and Best Rock Song for Afraid to Die featuring Tatiana Shmayluk.
The band was previously nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance for their song Alive at the 44th annual Grammy Awards in 2002. They were also nominated for Best Metal Performance for their song Portrait and Best Hard Rock Performance for their song Youth Of The Nation at the 45th annual Grammy Awards in 2003. They won International Alternative Group of the Year at the Echo Awards in 2003 and Best Hard Rock Artist at the San Diego Music Awards in 1999 and 2000.
