The Pretty Wild unstitched their new single “Button Eyes.”
Baddie-core banshees The Pretty Wild released “Button Eyes” on March 7th, by way of Sumerian Records on streaming platforms and an official video on YouTube.
The Vegas metalcore duo Jules and Jyl Wylde have been quite busy since hitting the scene. Most notably, the sisters previously released “sLeepwALkeR,” which, as of this writing, surpassed 5.6 million streams on Spotify and over 400,000 views on YouTube. Last month you may have seen their explosive collaboration with Deadlands for the track “Kundalini.” There’s no way you haven’t heard them at some point across social media and metal playlists on streaming platforms!
If that wasn’t impressive enough, brilliant Ash Avildsen (Sumerian Records CEO, American Satan Director) recruited The Pretty Wild along with Diamante and Canadian NuMetal legends Kittie for a bone-chilling reimagining of the Metallica classic “The Unforgiven” for his newest film Queen of the Ring’s official soundtrack.
Dipping back into “Button Eyes”
Jules speaks of the song’s imagery: “This song is for anyone who’s ever felt objectified, used, or controlled. It’s about the moment you consciously break free from manipulation and you sever ties with that toxicity for good. We used dolls as a vessel for this theme, mostly as a way to blend playful melodies and imagery in a way that lightens a heavy conversation topic.”
Haunting dolls that look straight out of a Tim Burton movie. You don’t want to cross these two!
Jyl Reflects: “‘Button Eyes’ explores the theme of disillusionment with life and the process of reclaiming personal power. The song cheekily pokes at the painful process of breaking free from the misleading beliefs that held us back and stepping into our truth. Essentially empowering ourselves by rejecting disempowering narratives that were imposed upon us. Personally, I love this one because it comes across fun, poppy, and superficial, but the irony in it is that it’s the juxtaposition of all that at its core.”
Want more of The Pretty Wild? We can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future for them, but according to socials, more singles are on the way with hype for an upcoming album with no anticipated date of release at this time. Want to catch The Pretty Wild in the flesh? You’ve only got two opportunities this year as of right now.
