Moancore Quintet Not Enough Space Delves Into Mental Health With New Single “Solace in Silence”
Not Enough Space’s latest single, released on January 17th via Thriller Records, tackles the topics of mental health, the struggles of dealing with loss and suicide, and substance abuse.
The new single appears to be lyrically from the perspective of someone in peril, dealing with substance abuse and searching for a way to silence the thoughts in their head to finally find peace—even if that means being six feet deep. For example:
“Wish I could say I’d apologize
But I’m so sick of feeling trapped in my own head
In my mind is where I fantasize
That I’ll be 6 feet deep and laid to rest”
Followed by the pre-chorus:
“I pray that death will set me free”
“‘Solace in Silence’ is a song dedicated to mental health, suicide awareness, and the lasting impact on loved ones. The lyrical content explores the concept of losing yourself and wanting the voices in your head to silence themselves. Hence the title, ‘Solace in Silence,’ finding comfort in completely silencing your thoughts,” explains Not Enough Space.
Along with the new single, the band has also released a music video, which offers striking visuals of the band performing at a gravesite. The video is complete with an earth-shattering breakdown at the 1:26 mark, featuring what is definitely the gnarliest scream from Liv Mitchell (I had to pick my jaw off the floor after that scream). Later on, we’re treated to a ripping solo on top of a casket from Tristian Laos Green. Absolute props also go to Lizzie, Jacob and Maurice for this metalcore banger.
