Killswitch Engage drop new video for single “I Believe”
The hardcore, thrashed-out band from Western Massachusetts, Killswitch Engage released a new single, "I Believe", along with a music video to go along with it. Killswitch Engage was formed back in 1999, straight out of Westfield, Massachusetts. The band consists of Jesse Leach on vocals, Adam Dutkiewicz on guitar, Joel Stroetzel on guitar as well, Mike D'Antonio killing bass, and last but not least, Justin Foley on drums.
"I Believe" is just one track from the new album, "This Consequence", set to release on February 21, 2025, via Metal Blade. The tracklist consists of 10 songs,
"Abandon Us"
"Discordant Nation"
"Aftermath"
"Forever Aligned"
"I Believe"
"Where It Dies"
"Collusion"
"The Fall of Us"
"Broken Glass"
"Requiem"
As of right now, we have access to "I Believe" and "Forever Aligned", which are both two very beautiful songs. To stream the new album, "The Consequences", see the link below for your preferred streaming service!
The music video for "I Believe" is very emotional and sentimental. As you watch the video, you see a man in distress about his life as everything around him falls apart. He lost power, his water supply was out, and he was trying to fix his home day by day. A lot of us find ourselves struggling with those same issues. The video continues with him going outside to a river, to lay a crow he came across to rest. The bare, lifeless trees behind him start to blossom with colorful leaves as the crow gains its strength back and flies away. You can see the man gleaming with happiness as he feels relief that everything is temporary.
Go check out the music video! I suggest grabbing a box of tissues prior.
Jesse Leach; vocalist, states in a recent interview, "I Believe' is about undying hope." He continues by saying, "During difficult times, perspective is everything. Knowing deep down that 'this too shall pass', has been a beacon of light for me. I do believe there is meaning behind suffering. If we can push through difficult times and come out the other side, there is a renewed sense of purpose… Do not let this world pull you down into despair. Tomorrow is a new day and a new possibility for change!"
The lyrics are very heartfelt and inspirational to those who are going through life's struggles.
Some of my favorite lyrics from "I Believe" that summarize the true meaning of the song are,
"I believe there is hope for better days
I believe we will conquer what we face
Come what may; the light will guide my way
Come what may; I won't be led astray"
"Discovering the faith inside us. Save us from despair. No matter what this world will tell you. Do not live in fear"
"Learn to let the light guide you
Let go of the pain
You can’t kill the passion in me
My devotion remains."
Many of us struggle every day with so many different issues such as, depression, grief, anxiety, addiction, and the list goes on. We all have something we can relate to, and sympathize with each other for. It makes a person feel less alone in such a big world when they can express themselves and have someone understand. A lot of us use music as a tool to feel less alone and feel heard. This song is very powerful for those who feel as if they cannot regain themselves, or pick themselves back up. You HAVE to keep going.
