Poppy has released her new single titled “They’re All Around Us”

You might know American singer-songwriter Poppy from her performance art presence on YouTube, making videos as an android-like figure, but she is much more than that. Growing up in Nashville she was surrounded by family members who were musicians. As she got older, she turned to music to cope with things going on, writing lyrics in her journal as an outlet. She fell in love with singing and has been doing it ever since, releasing albums since 2016 she is no stranger to new music and stepping out of her comfort zone.

Poppy’s newest single hit streaming platforms on September 17th. It’s a heavy track that wastes no time getting to the point. It starts with a heavy, prominent lead guitar, and immediately we get hit with Poppy’s staticky screaming. The lyrics are a bit hard to make out, but this changes in the chorus. The song's vibe is entirely changed, and we hear Poppy singing at a slower pace than the fast-tempo verses. Her vocals shine through here as the guitar becomes a bit less prominent and the tempo slows down. Immediately after the chorus, we have another 180° right back into the second scream-heavy verse. The song ends pretty abruptly with one last scream of “They’re All Around Us”

“They’re All Around Us“ by Poppy is now available on all streaming platforms

Hannah Daniel

Hey, I’m Hannah! I’ve had a love for the arts/music since I was a kid, and if I’m not painting or working on an art project at home I usually can be found at a concert. I developed a passion for music photography because it was a way to combine my love for being creative with my love for live music. There are few things I enjoy more than the feeling of being in a crowd, and being able to capture that feeling through my work (other than maybe getting a coffee). I’m always discovering new artists I love, but some of my favorite include Noah Kahan, Briston Maroney, Hozier, and Caamp.
