Daughtry Cracks “The Dam” Wide Open With Video for New Single

Rock legend Daughtry returned to the top of the charts with their newest EP, Shock To The System (Part One). Singles like “Artificial” and “Pieces” each hit No.1 in Active Rock and paved the way for their EP's release. Shock to The System (Part One) is part of a two-part project and is the debut EP at Big Machine Label Group.

They recently debuted the music video for “The Dam,” which accumulated over a million views within the first week of its release. The video follows frontman Chris Daughtry as he fights for his life in an epic sci-fi setting. The cinematic masterpiece was directed by Jensen Noen, who has previously worked with big names like Demi Lovato, Falling in Reverse, and Bring Me the Horizon.

“Working on this video with Jensen Noen was such an incredible experience,” Daughtry explains. “He's a true visionary, and we've wanted to work together for a while now. This felt like the perfect opportunity, as only he could capture the scope of my vision. Three days in the desert made for the most brutal shoot of my career, but I feel it's the best video I've ever done, so it was absolutely worth every minute!”

“The Dam” is one of the best examples of Chris Daughtry’s dynamic vocal range. The vocals are tonally immaculate yet raw enough to depict the perfect amount of emotion and vulnerability. The song is a reflection on the universal life experience of grief and loss and the journey to build yourself back up.

“This EP, in many ways, is a documentation of my catharsis – a peek behind the curtain into the healing of my inner self, if you will,” frontman Chris Daughtry explains. “Every day in the studio, writing and recording these songs felt like therapy. It wasn't part of some agenda or conscious effort, it just happened in a very organic way. I hope everyone who listens finds comfort in the fact that they are not alone in their struggles and finds the courage to say it out loud.”

Kristen

Hi! My name is Kristen and I’m a photographer/videographer based out of Milwaukee, WI. I’ve never known life without a camera in my hands and music in my ears. Music is something that I always felt passionate about and fell in love with how music can connect so many people from all different walks of life. At a very young age, I found my mom’s VHS camcorder and filmed anything and everything. Later in life, I became a wedding videographer and continued to do that for 5 years. While doing this helped me hone my craft, I always had a pull in the back of my mind to music photography. That's when I decided to bring my two passions together and got into music photography. I hope to help continue bringing people together and amplifying the voices and stories of all of the people and artists I am inspired by, and those I have yet to find.
