Acres drop video for “bloodlust” + announce new album “the host”
Acres’ new single Bloodlust marks a dark and intense introduction to their upcoming album The Host, set for release on May 2 via Solid State Records. The music video is visually unsettling, drenched in eerie religious imagery and horror aesthetics, amplifying the song’s already haunting atmosphere. Musically, Bloodlust blends haunting synth riffs with crushing breakdowns, delivering a sound that balances melody with brutality.
Lyrically, frontman Ben Lumber describes the track as a metaphor for addiction, portraying it as an all-consuming force that one knows is destructive yet remains dependent on. This thematic depth, combined with the band’s evolving sound, showcases their growth and willingness to push boundaries.
The Host was recorded with The Plot In You’s Landon Tewers as producer, which helped shape the album’s heavier and more atmospheric sound. Acres are currently supporting The Plot In You on their North American tour, though they encountered some travel setbacks along the way. Despite these hiccups, the band is back on the road and continuing to bring their new music to audiences across the U.S. and Canada.
For fans of dark, emotionally charged metalcore with a cinematic edge, Bloodlust is a gripping preview of what The Host has in store.
