All My Friends X Evaporated Magazine
Everyone at Toad's Place in New Haven, Connecticut on October 11th got an intense rush of excitement and enthusiasm as they walked into the venue. The tour "All My Friends" with Asking Alexandria with support from Memphis May Fire, The Word Alive, and Archers came to the small capacity venue, which held about 1,000 people. It was a sold-out show, and you could simply tell by looking around to see all of the people smiling, packed in the pit. Asking Alexandria + Support is currently on a 29-leg tour across the US. This tour is not one to miss!
Archers, from Madison, Wisconsin, opened for this show. They brought out hard energy, as the lead singer, Nathanael Pulley, jumped around the stage and told the middle of the pit to create a moshpit. They played a 7 song set, with the last song being "Blackmarketmonkeymagic", one of my personal favorites! On September 16, 2024, Archers released their song, "Made For Love" which was played at this show as well.
Next up was The Word Alive, from Phoenix, Arizona. When they stepped on the stage, the crowd started to get loud and enthusiastic. For this tour, they played a 7 song set, opening with "Hard Reset", which was released on August 25, 2023. They killed their set and were very interactive with the fans. The more you looked around, you could see fans belting all of the lyrics to their songs. It was a very hype crowd as they continued with songs such as, "Life Cycles" and "Trapped."
Second to last, Memphis May Fire, from Denton, Texas joined the stage! This is when it started to get crazy in the pit! Everywhere you looked, there was a moshpit, people crowd surfing and screaming the lyrics to each song of their 11-song setlist. They opened with the song, "Necessary Evil", released earlier this summer. Before the song "Make Believe" started, the lead singer, Matty Mullins, held his hand out to mine and sang to me, as he held my hand. It truly was a beautiful moment. During their set, it was so extraordinarily loud, that I bet people from across the city of New Haven could hear the vocals and all of the fans singing along. Between that and the moshpit, it felt like an earthquake! Crowd surfers came down every other second. It was such a surreal experience!
Last but NEVER least, here came Asking Alexandria. As they walked their way onto the stage, the crowd screamed for them! Asking Alexandria is an English rock band from York, United Kingdom, formed in 2006. They've been around for nearly 2 whole decades! As they were headlining, they played a 16-song set. The band played nostalgic songs such as, "Dear Insanity" released in 2011, along with "The Final Episode" which was released in 2009. They focused more so on their older music for this tour. They opened their set with, "Welcome" off of the "Reckless & Relentless" album, with that being their second studio album released in 2011. This song was very fitting to open their set too. The lead singer, Danny Worsnop, talked about how he had previously played 2 shows in the shirt he was wearing. He also talked about how he wanted to wear a certain shirt, but there was blood on it, "That wouldn't be cool if I wore a bloody shirt on stage!" After that, they continued with the song, "Dear Insanity" from the album, "Reckless & Relentless." At this point, the crowd became extremely buck-wild! Yet again, every side of the pit was filled with crowd surfers, and a huge moshpit formed while they played the middle of the set. You could see all of the fans singing every single lyric, to each song around the entire room. The band ended their set with their well-known song, "Alone In A Room." That song is my personal favorite of their whole set.
Each band was absolutely phenomenal, and this is a tour you most definitely do not want to miss! With a handful of shows left on the "All My Friends" tour, it'll only get more exciting and awesome! If you haven't seen the tour yet, I suggest you purchase tickets to your closest city now! There was a big age range between the fans, some younger, some older. As I walked around, I saw a few people with very old shirts, that were faded and from the first few Asking Alexandria albums/tours! This was one hell of a dope show!
